M.S Dhoni – the untold “inspirational” story

“Yaar Dhoni ki kya kismat hai yaar. Saala sab cheez kismat me mil gaya use”

Beta kismat bhi unhi ka saath deti hai jo haar nai maantehai!

M.S Dhoni, the movie, is nothing short of inspiration. While this review may be a little biased because of my love and respect for the captain cool, an ardent fan of cricket who has seen matches when Dhoni was a flamboyant hard hitter of the cricketing ball, would feel just sheer memory flashbacks from those days.

It inspires the small town boys like me to dream big, because those who achieve big reach there only when they start dreaming big!

Follow your heart, because although it is in the left, it is always right!

I can so much connect to the sense of insecurity attached to a father like Pan Singh, who worries when his son starts doing something unconventional and out of the league. After all “thodi aur mehenat ki hoti to sarkaari naukri mil jaati” is the anthem of the neighbors and relatives. The movie teaches us that dreams do come true, albeit only when you don’t lose hope and keep doing what you were doing!

Times when you fail? Celebrating them is the best way to remember!

There are obviously times when you fail to achieve what you’ve been working for! So this is for all the haters who think for Dhoni everything fell well in place : it hurts when for what you’ve put all your life on doesn’t execute well. But that ain’t the last stop buddy! The scene where Dhoni comes with a one dozen singhada to celebrate the failure explains why failure is from which you need to learn, because “aur mehenat karne ki zarurat hai!!”

Stay the captain cool way!

When we are trying to achieve our dream, it’s quite normal to feel like giving up and just run away. But these are bouncers you need to duck. Life would surely give you a full toss which you can hit only when you are cool!

The world will bitch about you! But will remember you when you achieve your dream!

Remember the time when Dhoni had to face all those attendance issues just because a fellow employee would be jealous that he had been off duty, clearing underestimating how he was actually working his ass off for something? Morons are omnipresent! They bitch about you when you do bad, they bitch about you when you do good. They fucking bitch about you every damn time. But it requires the patience level of a leader to be able to gulp all that, and rise above the hate!

Success will surely come to you! You’ll have to wait a little longer!

This is the biggest inspiration that this movie gives. Remember the following dialogue of Sushant just afte the Cooch-behar final at Keenan Stadium Jamshedpur?

“Toh day 2 mein hum out ho gaye 84 run pe, pura team out ho gya 357 run pe. Punjab batting karne aata hai, unka pehla wicket girta hai 60 pe, fir batting karne aata hai Yuvraj Singh.

Day 2 ke end ka score 108/1. Purey Day 3 mein sirf unka eke hi wicket girta hai.

Day 3 ke end ka score 431/2. Yuvraj Singh double century, bahut maara, dhaaga khol diya ek dum.

Last day – Day 4, Punjab ka total score 839… Yuvraj ke akele ka score 358, Bihar ke total score se 1 run jyada. Humko 2nd inning hi nahi mila”

It was the final match of Cooch-Behar Trophy, which was played at Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur from 16th to 19th December 1999.

While Yuvraj Singh went on to join the U-19 world cup team which eventually won the 2000 U-19 cricket World Cup, our captain cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni wasn’t considered despite his unconventional batting skills.

Fast forward 2007, both of them went on to be a part of the 2007 T-20 worldcup.

Fast forward 2011, both of them went on to be a part of the 2011 50-over worldcup.

Stay polite and humble!

So you’ve achieved what you dreamt of?? You need to be as humble as you can. Never forget what you came from. The scene where one of his old colleagues came to meet him, who was himself hesitant to meet him, offered a hand to shake after he thought to leave. He instead went on to hug him. This is what modesty is.

Last but not the least. Stay unconventional!

There is a difference between having poor skills and being unconventional!

Every damn person in this world has a talent. Everyone can do everything. While some learn it, other have an unconventional way to achieve the same thing. Never get disappointed because some one is technically better than you. If you’ve got a dream, protect it. You’ll achieve it through your method. Period.
